Congratulations to Zezhen Pan for her paper on "Persistence of the Isotopic Signature of Pentavalent Uranium in Magnetite".
In this paper, Zezhen with our collaborators from KIT and Hannover University, identified the isotope signature of pentavalent U species formed during U(VI) incorporation-reduction process. The isotope signature of U(V) was preserved by the mineral structure but may be overprinted due to the mineral dynamics. This work furthers our understanding of the isotope fractionation of U associated with iron oxides in both modern and paleo-environments.
