The State Secretariat for Education, Research and Innovation (SERI) has commissioned ETH Zurich and the Zurich University of Applied Sciences (ZHAW) as Leading Houses for bilateral collaboration with partner institutions in Asia. In this framework, two different grants have recently been launched, with the aim to strengthen the partnerships between Swiss Institutions and the Asian partner countries.

On one hand, there is the innovation partnership grant: led by ETHZ, it focuses on the establishment of cooperation between Swiss research institutions and non-academic innovation agents in Asia. The aim is to initiate long-term partnerships with mutually beneficial concrete outcomes. It can be employed to develop a joint R&D project proposal for submission to national or international innovation-related funding agencies, to establish long-term consulting or training partnerships between two institutions, to pilot technology or product development activities or to reverse engineering projects. For more information, check ETHZ webpage.

On the other hand, there is the bridging grant: led by ETHZ and ZHAW, it focuses on established research partnership with Asian countries and aims at bringing these partnerships to the next level. It can be employed to develop a joint project proposal for submission to large funding agencies, to develop an established and long-term partnership between two institutions or chairs or to intensify joint teaching or curriculum development. For more information, check ETHZ or ZHAW webpages.
