On February 19, 2025, 21 social members, 27 scientific members and 3 foreign members were appointed.
The board of the Hollandsche Maatschappij welcomes them.
Prof. ir. Berend Smit, professor of chemistry and chemical technology (EPFL) has been elected as a foreign member of the Koninklijke Hollandsche Maatschappij der Wetenschappen (KHMW), also known as the Royal Holland Society of Sciences and Humanities (https://khmw.nl/).
Founded in 1752, the KHMW is the oldest learned society in the Netherlands. Its mission is twofold: to advance the sciences (in the broadest sense, including the arts) and to bridge the gap between science and society. Today, the KHMW consists of around 550 scientific members and 400 societal members, along with about 40 foreign members.
