Welcome to Dr Savvas Saloustros

Dr. Savvas Saloustros joins EESD for the next two years with a Marie Skłodowska-Curie Individual Fellowship. Savvas has a Diploma in Civil Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens (Greece) and an MSc in Structural Analysis of Historical Constructions and Monuments from the University of Padova (Italy) and the UPC-BarcelonaTech (Spain). His PhD thesis from UPC-BarcelonaTech received the international Outstanding Doctoral Thesis Award 2018 by The Masonry Society. His research focuses on the development and use of numerical tools and methodologies for the structural analysis of existing structures and of built cultural heritage.

With the project CRACK-IT, Savvas will investigate the importance of size-effect in the experimental testing and modelling of irregular stone masonry walls. The project will allow to augment the work of EESD on the development of numerical and experimental CRACK Identification Techniques for stone masonry structures.
