New edition of the MTE executive program

The program directed by Prof. Ralf Seifert and which is run by an alliance between EPFL, IMD and ETHZ has successfully launched its 17th edition.

The Mastering Technology Enterprise (MTE) program, directed by Prof. Ralf Seifert, is guided by industry needs and:

• Prepares technically trained managers from technology- or knowledge-based industries to be company leaders
• Gives a deeper understanding of the business functions, processes and challenges facing the technology enterprise
• Helps participants grow personally, develop their leadership potential, boost their self-confidence and show them how to use cutting-edge management tools to lead organizational change

MTE’s highly interactive learning process emphasizes open discussion, combining case work, group work and integrative group assignments. The multi-disciplinary Faculty are specialists in the interface between business and technology. External speakers − entrepreneurs, technology experts and industry thought leaders − contribute their widely diverse experience.

MTE participants come from diverse geographic and cultural backgrounds. They represent many nationalities and functions, and typically have 8 to 15 years of professional experience in R&D, science, engineering, manufacturing, technical sales or IT. Today, the program counts close to 500 alumni.

A survey of past participants has shown that:
• 98% rate MTE as a good or excellent experience, just after the program
• 91% rate the long-term benefits and the impact of MTE as good or excellent, long after having completed the program
• 61% experience specific career progression after graduating from MTE

The program comprises two fully integrated modules of three weeks each. The first module has just began, and the second one will take place in August 2011.

The next MTE program will start in January 2012, which will then be its 18th promotion. More information can be found at www.imd.org/mte
