The newsletter, co-directed by Prof. Matthias Finger and in collaboration with TU Delft, has just published its new issue for 2011: Competition policy in network industries.

Most network industries tend to be regulated primarily by sector-specific regulation. The on-going process of liberalisation and the creation of competitive markets in these sectors is potentially opening the way for increased competition policy in network industries. This edition of the Network Industries Quarterly covers competition policy issues from a cross-sector perspective as well as from sector-specific perspectives:

- Competition related tools for a new entrant in network regulated industries

- Competition policy and pro-competitive regulation in network industries – avoiding overkill and gaps

- Developments in European rail policy

- Access to networks through competition law: the case of KPN – Reggefiber

- The long flight from special to general interests in air transport policy

- The Svenska Kraftnät case: introduction of bidding zones in Sweden

- Tariff deficit in retail electricity markets in Spain

- Institutional Network Regime: a new framework to better grasp the key role of infostructure

The next issue of the Network Industries Quarterly will discuss open innovation.
