Following a call for tenders (lot no. 2) issued at the end of last year, EPFL’s Catering and Shops Unit (RESCO) is pleased to announce that it will continue to work with Compass Group Switzerland on the School’s Lausanne campus. Compass Group is a major player in the Swiss catering market.

For a number of years, Compass Group has operated three of the Lausanne campus's catering outlets: Le Corbusier, Le Giacometti and Le Puur. Following its successful bid for lot 2 of a call for tenders, the company will take over the management of the ELA and INM cafeterias, as well as the self-service Cafeteria BC. However, the same staff will be there to welcome you, as before. Also, each outlet will undergo major renovations and refurbishment; new concepts and cafeteria names are also in the pipeline.

Cafeteria Niki (formerly ELA) will have a tearoom concept, with freshly-made crepes and waffles as well as a selection of snacks and desserts, especially muffins. Quality Teekanne-brand loose tea will be available in self-service, along with coffee beans and cold drinks (homemade cold teas and flavored water) he decor will be a throwback to the 1980s with a unique, colorful design.

Cafeteria Zaha (formerly INM). Create your own, personalized Buddha bowl at a fusion bowl buffet, or if you fancy dessert, try the acai bowl bar. Enjoy the same cold drinks that are available at NIKI – bottles of homemade cold teas, flavored water and other beverages. The ambiance will be natural, airy and light-filled.

Cafeteria Corbusier will be renamed Piano, and will offer an all-Italian menu designed by an Italian chef.

Cafeteria BC will become Hopper and will feature a diner format. Meals can be ordered, customized and paid for entirely online, which will revolutionize the usual queue system. The interior will feature a modern, industrial decor typical of American diners, where you can enjoy a selection of burgers and snacks, an American breakfast, or cupcakes for dessert.

Last but not least, Le Giacometti will keep both its name and current food offerings.

All these new catering outlets will provide healthy meals and will comply with EPFL's 20-30 sustainability strategy.

Due to the current public-health restrictions and renovation work, the openings for these new outlets will be staggered. Niki and Zaha (formerly ELA and INM, respectively) as well as Piano (formerly Corbusier) will be closed until September. Giacometti and Hopper (formerly Cafeteria BC) will remain open, with the same hours as before.
