On May 9th, more than 30 SCCER-FURIES’ experts, both existing and new ones, were gathered in Lausanne for the kick-off meeting of the SCCER-FURIES Digitalization activities. This event was a milestone for the center, initiating the enhancement of its digitalization-related activities and capitalizing on existing capabilities for contribution to the digitalization transition (see the article).

These activities are financed by the Innosuisse and cover a big variety of digitalization areas, notably (i) decentralization and captive use models; (ii) blockchain/crypto- technologies and digital trust; (iii) digital platforms to coordinate action between energy players; (iv) artificial intelligence and machine learning; (v) big data and smart solutions; and (vi) cybersecurity.

They have high political relevance, being part of the implementation of the National Action Plan on digitalization for the year 2019-2020. Even more, their impact is amplified through integration in the existing structure of the center and promotion of digital pollination across the entire work plan. Some key figures on these activities are the following:

a) over CHF5M budget, which makes it the 2nd biggest activity of the center after the REeL demo

b) 8 new industrial partners, including AEM, Arbon Energie, ESR, Electrinfo, Smart Energy Link, SIG and VelaSolaris (see the article)

c) 18 laboratories, including 5 new ones.
