ENAC-IT4Research has been granted the first Award of the National ORD Prize at the Swiss Academies Ceremony on Wednesday Nov 27th.

Since 2023, the Academies of Sciences Switzerland have been awarding the National Prize for Open Research Data (ORD Prize). This is part of the Action Plan "Open Research Data" implemented by the Academies as part of the National Strategy for Open Research Data. This new prize aims to recognize researchers for innovative practices in the field of Open Research Data (ORD) and aims to promote the transition to open research practices.

ENAC-IT4R’s interdisciplinary approach to fostering a FAIR research landscape has been honored. The team applies and advances open science practices concretely by building tools and spreading knowledge on solutions that improve open research, while ensuring researchers have an easy access to the technical skills they need.

The ceremony also honoured the “Disseminating Computational Solid Mechanics (DCSM)” project, led by the LSMS lab, in collaboration with ENAC-IT4R, building Solidipes, a Python package designed to support scientists throughout the entire lifecycle of their research data.

About ENAC-IT4R

ENAC-IT4R’s team of software and data engineers collaborate with researchers to help them make the best use of their data and build effective and reproducible data pipelines. Currently, the team is collaborating with researchers across ENAC School, for example building a database of re-usable materials, upgrading ecohydrological simulations codebase from proprietary to high-performance modular version in Julia, mapping data collection campaigns in the Arctic and Antartica, collecting indoors Air Quality data or showcasing structural test data on steel materials.

Contact [email protected] to discuss your data or code challenges. And join the team next Monday for a conversation on Open Databases. For phD students, a new course Research skills in the Open Science Era will be offered this Spring.
