Microplastics: what are the risks for human health?

There would be as many microplastics in Lake Geneva as in our oceans! But where do they come from? From the degradation of large plastic waste abandoned in nature, but not only. What are the effects for living organisms and what are the risks for human health? The GR-CEL recently contributed to a documentary produced by the Swiss television (RTS1) on this topic.
