Each year, the MD-PhD Commission supports candidates in applying for national or local fellowships. This year, four local FBM (Faculty of Biology and Medicine, UNIL) fellowships have been awarded.

The recipients selected for the local fellowship are:

Adrien GENTON, Kummer fellowship - CHUV, Department of Infectious Diseases (Prof. Thierry Roger)
Antoine EQUEY, Tschopp fellowship - Unisante (Quantitative Research) (Dr. Isabella Locatelli)
Richard MOSPAN, FBM fellowship - CHUV, Department of Radiodiagnostics and Interventional Radiology (Prof. Patric Hagmann)

The EPFL Doctoral School warmly congratulates all four recipients and wishes them every success in their doctoral research.

The MD-PhD programme is designed for medical students and medical graduates from Swiss or foreign universities interested in science and in combining the study of mechanisms of disease with clinical practice in an academic setting. The MD-PhD Commission promotes the programme and assists students in preparing to compete for a National Scholarsip. Members of the Commission may also help students find a thesis director in Switzerland and obtain funding if they do not receive a National Scholarship.

Candidates have a choice between:

  • The UNIL programme in the field of medicine, life sciences and other disciplines within the competence of the FBM; the doctorate in medicine and life sciences (MD-PhD) is awarded by the UNIL upon recommendation from its Faculty of Biology and Medicine.
  • The EPFL programme in the field of cellular and molecular biology, biotechnology, neurosciences, biomedical engineering and other disciplines of competence of the EPFL; the doctorate in medicine and sciences (MD-PhD) is granted jointly by the UNIL and the EPFL.
