Materials' Maps at the EPFL Open Days

Researchers from the Laboratory of Computational Science and Modelling demonstrate interactive maps that help navigate large databases of new materials, and to understand structure-properties relations.
The Laboratory of Computational Science and Modelling has participated to the EPFL Open Days, in collaboration with other groups of the MARVEL NCCR. Among other activities, and demonstration of the atomic-scale modelling of materials that is the main research topic of the group, visitors have ad the opportunity of trying a prototype of a web interface to navigate databases of materials and molecules.
These interactive maps are designed to facilitate performing high-throughput materials design, by representing the structural and chemical similarities between different compounds, and highlighting the relations between structure and properties.
