Marco Caputo joins SOIS as post-doc
It is with great pleasure that we welcome Marco Caputo to the group. He will be based at the PSI and working on magnetic effects in transition metal oxides.
Marco did his PhD at the Università della Calabria and the Italian synchrotron ELETTRA. The topic of his work was the experimental study of innovative systems for energy harvesting and storage based on novel materials and organic components. After this he went to Paris to do a post-doc studying out of equilibrium systems, with a focus on topological insulators and metallorganic molecules/topological insulators interfaces, Weyl semimetal, and strongly correlated materials. After this he joined the Swiss LIght Source to study transition metal oxides and multiferroic interfaces using soft X-ray angle-resolved photoemission. Now he will continue these studies in the lower photon energy range with a particular focus on the spin and magnetic properties using the COPHEE machine.
When not being buried by work at the beamline, Marco enjoys photography. He is horrible at sports, but after coming to Switzerland he realised that this would be his last chance to do something stupid and get hurt in sports, and he therefore started snowboarding. It is a joy to have an Italian scientist at the COPHEE machine, because it will certainly only get better (and stronger).
