Marc Gruber wins Academy of Management Mentor Award

Each year, the Entrepreneurship Division of the Academy of Management rewards an important figure for providing unique mentoring activities in the field of entrepreneurship. The 2019 award has just been given to Marc Gruber, Director of the Chair of Entrepreneurship and Technology Commercialization and Vice-President for Innovation at EPFL, during the annual meeting of the Academy of Management in Boston. He ranks as one of the youngest recipients of this prestigious award.

“Marc’s nomination packet was particularly impressive. He received 26 letters of support from individuals who he had mentored. These included letters from those students who he directly supervised, as well as from those from other institutions where the mentoring relationship was informal, yet incredibly valuable to the mentee,” says Donald O. Neubaum, Entrepreneurship Division Chair. “The mission of the Entrepreneurship Division is ‘we grow entrepreneurship scholars.’ Marc exemplifies that mission and I was particularly pleased to be able to present this award to him.”

The Academy of Management is the largest professional association for management and organization scholars which was founded in 1936. It counts nearly 20’000 members from more than 120 countries, from professors to doctoral students in business schools at universities, academics in related social science and other fields, and “practitioners who value knowledge creation and application.”
