Majed Chergui elected Fellow of the European Academy of Sciences

The European Academy of Sciences (EURASC) is a non-profit, non-governmental and independent organization “of the most distinguished scholars and engineers performing forefront research and the development of advanced technologies, united by a commitment to promoting science and technology and their essential roles in fostering social and economic development.”

EURASC admits to membership “the best European scientists with a vision for Europe as a whole”, aiming to strengthen European science and scientific cooperation to improve European research, technological application, and social development.

As of 2020, EURASC has elected into its members Professor Majed Chergui in the Chemistry Division. Professor Chergui directs EPFL’s Laboratory of Ultrafast Spectroscopy and is founding director of the Lausanne Centre for Ultrafast Science (LACUS). Using ultrafast spectroscopy technology to achieve real-time visualizations of light-induced nuclear, spin and electronic dynamics, his research specializes in ultrafast dynamics of light-induced processes in molecules, solids and proteins, as well as in metallic and semiconductor nanostructured materials.
