"Clouds, climate, challenges" by Prof. Herman Ruschenbergt, Department of Geoscience and Remote Sensing, TU Delft.

Clouds and precipitation play a crucial role in the weather, hydrology and climate system, both on a global and regional scale. With global warming we can expect an increase in rainfall amounts, but the amounts and regional variability of these changes are difficult to predict. One of the largest uncertainties in our understanding of the climate system is due to clouds: how will they respond to global warming? On average clouds cool the Earth by some ten degrees, but how much will this be in the future? This question can only be addressed with a good combination of modelling and observations. In the talk we will focus on the work done at CESAR Observatory in The Netherlands to address these questions.
