LMIS1 was represented at CHI 2026 in Barcelona with a poster presentation on Mixed Reality-assisted cleanroom training, highlighting innovative approaches to scalable microfabrication education.
From April 13th to 17th, researchers from LMIS1 at EPFL, in collaboration with ETH Zürich, attended the 2026 ACM CHI Conference on Human Factors in Computing Systems in Barcelona, Spain. As the premier international venue for Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), CHI brings together researchers to discuss the intersection of technology and human activities.
LMIS1 contributed to the conference with a poster presentation by PhD student Qinglan Shan, titled "From Apprenticeship to Autonomy: Mixed Reality-Assisted Training in a Cleanroom by a Hybrid Authoring Workflow." The research addresses scalability challenges in microfabrication training by introducing a novel Mixed Reality (MR) system and a hybrid authoring workflow. This work represents the laboratory’s ongoing commitment to leveraging digital platforms to enhance education and knowledge exchange within the cleanroom environment.
