LIMNO at MRS Spring Meeting 2026 — all the way from EPFL to Honolulu

Two members of the lab travelled to Hawaii to share their research with the materials science community at one of the field's most important annual gatherings.
This year, LIMNO sent two of its own to the Materials Research Society (MRS) Spring Meeting in Honolulu, Hawaii — one of the most important venues for the global materials science community. Our 3rd year PhD student Arthur Bouchez and postdoctoral researcher Waygen Thor represented the group at the conference, presenting their latest work to an international audience of researchers and engineers.
The MRS Spring Meeting brings together thousands of scientists each year across a wide range of disciplines, from energy materials and sustainability to advanced characterisation techniques. For early-career researchers, it offers a rare chance to exchange ideas beyond the walls of EPFL, get feedback from the broader community, and discover what is happening at the frontiers of the field.
Arthur had the opportunity to give a talk on his research, presenting the relationship between particle size and photocatalytic performance in organic semiconductor nanoparticles.
Waygen presented a poster on his latest findings, spacer engineering strategies for incorporating bulky semiconducting ligands into layered perovskites.
Both presentations were opportunities to engage with researchers working on related problems, and to situate LIMNO's work within the broader conversations happening in the field.
Of course, no trip to Hawaii would be complete without making a little time to enjoy the island.
Between sessions, poster walks, networking with other scientists, Arthur and Waygen made the most of the island. Visiting the Kualoa Ranch filming locations made famous by Jurassic Park, and spending some time on the beaches. Not a bad backdrop for a research trip.
