The popular DSP class on Coursera gets a revamp and a new format.

LCAV became one of the pioneers of the MOOC revolution when, back in 2013, it offered the first DSP online class on Coursera. Even now, after 7 years of online teaching and over 100 thousand online students, the course is still going strong, with dozens of new certificates every week, and it has been of invaluable help to organize the transition to remote teaching during the current lock-down.

Today we are happy to announce the launch of our new and improved Signal Processing course; the material has been expanded and refurbished and the format has been redesigned as a collection of four individual units:

  1. Basic Concepts and Algorithms
  2. Filtering
  3. Analog vs Digital
  4. Applications

This new format will allow students, both at EPFL and around the world, to use the material in a more efficient way, either as a modular specialization or as a repository of short refresher courses on specific areas of signal processing.

We have been very fortunate in these years to receive incredible amounts of feedback and support. We are grateful to all the people that helped us in this endeavor, from past and current lab members, to CEDE and IC, and the countless students who provided their comments and suggestions.

We are condifdent that this new format will be as successful as our initial class and, indeed, the beginning is promising: the new DSP course has been launched on May first and we already have more than 2000 new students! Looking forward to many more in the months and years to come!
