A warm welcome to our new colleague Michelangelo, who is starting a new adventure in COSMO lab!

We are delighted to announce that Michelangelo is joining the COSMO lab as a postdoc. He earned his master's degree in Theoretical Physics from the University of Palermo, where his thesis, titled "Spontaneous Emission and Resonant Energy Transfer in Static and Dynamical Structured Environments," showcased his early exploration of complex physical phenomena. Following this, he pursued a Ph.D. at Trinity College, Dublin, under the mentorship of Prof. S. Sanvito. His doctoral research centered on applying machine learning techniques to materials science, culminating in a thesis entitled "The Jacobi-Legendre Framework for Machine Learning in Materials Investigation and Discovery." This work involved analyzing existing descriptors, exploring a model for semi-classical spin systems, and developing a linear machine learning framework based on Jacobi and Legendre polynomials. At COSMO, he will continue to explore new machine learning descriptors for surrogate models to predict different material properties. We wish him all the best for his adventures and future endeavors at Lab Cosmo.
