Jonathan Muheim wins the 2023 SSBE Student Award

Jonathan Muheim was awarded the 2023 Student Award from the Swiss Society for Biomedical Engineering
Joanthan Muheim was awarded the 2023 SSBE Student Award for his Master Thesis carried out at the Translational Neural Engineering Lab. Jonathan's project was entitled "Characterization of a portable system to restore real-time thermal feedback for arm amputee individuals". The project aimed to develop a wearable device that could integrate existing prosthetic arms and provide amputees with thermal sensation. Not only did the project result in a patent, two confernece abstracts at SfN, but Jonathan was also the second author of the Science paper "Restoration of natural thermal sensation in upper-limb amputees".
Jonathan did a Bachelor in microengineering at EPFL (during which he spent 10 months at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), Sydney, Australia) and then completed his Master of Science in Robotics, with minor in Neuroprosthetics. Jonathan is now PhD student at TNE.
The Student Award is delivered by the Swiss Society for Biomedical Engineering to recognize outstanding contributions to the field, and was presented to Jonathan at the 2023 SSBE meeting, which took place on September 13th in Allschwil.
