Johan Auwerx and Laurent Mouchiroud win the E. Naef award

Professor Johan Auwerx and Dr Laurent Mouchiroud have won the E. Naef Foundation award.

The prize is given annually by the E. Naef Foundation for in vitro research (FENRIV), established in 1998. The foundation assists researchers using, in the course of their research, scientific means for restricting the use of vivisection and generally promote in vitro research.

Professor Johan Auwerx and Dr Laurent Mouchiroud of the EPFL’s Laboratory for Integrative and Systems Physiology are being recognized for their work on on the development of new in vitro techniques for testing the toxicity of chemical compounds on the nematode, an alternative laboratory organism.

The prize was presented on 25 March 2017, during a ceremony in Geneva.
