The Mentors Events of the Master in Management, Technology & Entrepreneurship welcomed Céline Renaud, CEO of JMC Lutherie, a SME creator of technological products at the service of sound.

The Mentors Events of the Master in Management, Technology & Entrepreneurship (MTE) bring together, three times a year, MTE students and their mentors, experienced professionals from various sectors. Recently, Céline Renaud, CEO of JMC Lutherie, came to present her loudspeakers in resonance wood, and to talk about how the digital age has evolved from a traditional activity such as violin making into an SME, creator of technological products at the service of sound.

Born from a traditional violin making workshop that created guitars, the JMC Lutherie company was able to take advantage of the exceptional qualities of the resonance wood of the Risoud forest, known to luthiers for centuries, to evolve its activities in an era where music is stored in the cloud. First realized empirically by luthier Jean-Michel Capt, JMC Lutherie's products have been tested by EPFL laboratories to validate its acoustic, its components and its electronic properties. They are today distributed worldwide.
It is the result of this marriage of tradition and innovation that Céline Renaud presented to a captivated audience during the last MTE Mentors Event, sharing her passion for entrepreneurship with future MTE graduates.

A precious pair

The MTE Mentorship Program supports students during their two years of their Master's degree. Mentors are experienced professionals, usually executives in companies in the region and often EPFL Alumni, willing to give some of their time to pass on their experience to students while maintaining a link with EPFL. Students and mentors meet at the pace and location of each. During a semester, the student must carry out an Applied corporate & industry analysis with the help of the mentor. This person has a role of facilitator to put the student in contact with professionals and open doors for him in his company or its department.
