Post-doctoral Fellowship from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR)

After his doctoral studies in Oxford, Jian-Rui moved to Switzerland on a Post-doctoral Fellowship from the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR). He’s research interests are in the interplay between magnetism and topology. Materials that provides for an ideal test bed for the exploration of such physics include crystals that host magnetic skyrmion lattices and Weyl fermions.

Some of his recent work include (1) the discovery of first ideal Weyl semimetal, (2) the identification of the magnetic structure of the first antiferromagnet with a large anomalous Hall effect at room temperature and also (3) the true determination of the topological character of the first magnetic Weyl semimetal.
