This week, just over a year after the launch of EPFL’s Center for Digital Trust (C4DT), Academic Director Jean-Pierre Hubaux and Executive Director Olivier Crochat spoke to Swiss newspaper Le Temps about the center’s progress and goals.

"The digitization of our society offers extraordinary opportunities, but also carries many threats, from cyberattacks to fake news, from new extortion attempts. In this new world, trust is a major element. And the EPFL, with its technological vocation, has an important role to play,” Hubaux, a professor in EPFL’s School of Computer and Communication Sciences (IC) told the French-language paper.

Crochat explained how the center brings together some 30 EPFL laboratories aimed at advancing training, research and technology transfer in the areas of cybersecurity and digital trust.

“Working in partnership with industry, we want to put in place training, services and regulations to increase safety,” he said.
