Jean-Louis Scartezzini elected to Swiss Academies of Arts & Sciences

Prof. Jean-Louis Scartezzini has been elected Member of the new Energy Commission of the Swiss Academy of Arts and Sciences (a+).

The mission of the new Energy commission of the Swiss Academy of Arts and Sciences is to enhance research and dialogue around issues related to energy, environment and resources.

Constituted of experts from diverse disciplines, this new commission addresses technical, economic, societal, ecological as well as political aspects of energy supply and energy use, taking into account international boundary conditions. Recommendations will be issued for strategies and policies to be implemented in Switzerland on the basis of impact studies and option analyses. Furthermore, the commission is to promote and engage in fact-based dialog with the Swiss population and opinion leaders.

One of the nine members of this commission, Prof. Jean-Louis Scartezzini of the EPFL Solar Energy and Building Physics Laboratory is a leading expert on energy efficiency and the use of renewable energy in the context of buildings and urban neighborhoods.
