Presentation of Marilyne Andersen (LIPID) at the "Journée de l'Architecture et de l'Urbanisme Neuchâtel

Interdisciplinarity is an inherent component of new developments in research and education today. It brings new challenges, shares a common language, avoids becoming generalists, and new opportunities to solve more complex problems through disciplinary complementarities. This is particularly true in the field of architecture, in a wide variety of skills, attitudes and approaches needed to bring new advances in this field.

Some initiatives, specific to EPFL and the ENAC Faculty in particular, to develop a culture of interdisciplinarity and to build synergies between traditionally distinct domains, particularly in relation to the built environment, were illustrated by Marilyne Andersen during the conference with examples of concrete research and training projects, including the Swiss solar house "NeighborHub", winner of the Solar Decathlon international competition held in the United States in October 2017.
