Darrell Duffie, Professor at Stanford University and Visiting Professor at the EPFL CDM, answers various questions from Paolo Vanini, Professor at the Swiss Finance Institute.
In his interview, Prof. Duffie comments, in particular, on the changes of the interest rates decided by the European Central Bank and the Federal Reserve and their repercussions for Switzerland. He also explains that some academic concepts such as FVA, KVA, MVA etc... are not well understood and used by the financial industry due to the fact that academics do not provide enough guidelines to the bank. Paolo Vanini also questions D. Duffie about the variation of liquidity in the equity market and the bond market, and he also asks if the international current debate on climate change could be an opportunity for the finance markets. D. Duffie concludes his interview with advice for talented students which is to follow their passion in the choice of their academic topic.
