Armel is an architect, specialized urban development in Africa. He joined the World Bank in January 2021, working with the Urban, Resilience and Land (URL) Global Practice.


Prior to this, Armel worked as a PHD researcher for the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne for four years, where he developed research on the development mechanisms of urban peripheries in selected large cities in West and Central Africa. He had also worked in the private sector in the field of architecture and urban design in the Central Africa region. Armel received his diploma in architecture and urban planning from the African School of Architecture and Urban Planning (EAMAU in French) in Togo, and his PHD in Architecture and Urban Sciences from EPFL in 2013 and 2020 respectively.
