Soheyl Massoudi has successfully completed his Master thesis entitled “Integrated Robust Design of High-Speed Compressor mounted on Herringbone Grooved Journal Bearings” at LAMD.

He contributed to capturing the concept of robust design of gas bearings. He managed to identify bearing geometries that offer very wide manufacturing tolerances, thus opening a door to reduced production cost. He also developed a surrogate model for radial compressors based on artificial neural networks. Optimizations maximizing the compressor efficiency can now be performed, where the number of computations is decreased significantly by rejecting non functioning candidates. The model is also able to take the refrigerant fluid as a decision variable to build an optimal thermodynamic cycle. We congratulate him for his degree and welcome him for his future PhD work at the LAMD.
