InSituStreTech Project on track with new grant
The Laloui Group’s new start-up project InSituStreTech continues progressing through its research and development phase with an Ignition Grant from EPFL’s Tech Launchpad technology incubator. The Ignition Grant is a recognition of the Project’s progress, allowing the start-up to begin validating the technology.
Launched in 2022, InSituStreTech is developing an innovative technology suitable for the in-situ stress estimation of CO2 geological storage reservoirs. Carbon capture and storage technologies are crucial for mitigating climate change by storing CO2 in geological formations. Scientific Assistant Alex Horvath, who is helping develop the technology, says the funding is timely. “We’ve been progressing really well with our research over the last year, and it’s fantastic to be recognized by EPFL. But more importantly, this grant will help us to expand beyond the lab and begin conducting real tests under real conditions in the field.”
If all goes well following laboratory testing, the team hopes to develop a functional prototype to expand the experiment scope to include various field situations.
