Nikola Besic, postdoc at EPFL-LTE and MeteoSwiss, explains his role and contributions in "Classification of hydrometeors, quantitative estimate of snowfall and variability of precipitation", a collaborative project between MeteoSwiss and EPFL which started in early 2015.
Hydrometeors are the different types of particles forming precipitation, for example raindrops, snowflakes and hailstones, which can be identified by MeteoSwiss fourth-generation weather (dual- polarization) radars.
