Prof. Marilyne Andersen, the inaugural laureate of the global Daylight Award for Research 2016 contributed to a cross-disciplinary conversation about daylight research and practice on April 25th, 2023 in Copenhagen together with Lars Courage, architect and former chairman of Dutch Daylight as well as winner of its award in 2012.

A two-day ideation workshop on daylight was held on April 25th and 26th at the VILLUM Window Collection in Søborg, Danemark near Copenhagen, where the VELUX company originally had her headquarters. Per Arnold Andersen, Architect MAA and Director of The Daylight Award, invited Marilyne Andersen and Lars Courage to give a talk and moderated a cross-disciplinary panel conversation about daylight between them, whose topics ranged from its practical applications and relevance to the building sector to the academic efforts furthering our understanding of its importance to our well-being and impact.

The talk invitation was the opportunity for Marilyne Andersen to present to a community of researchers, practitioners and artists the genesis, intent and development of the ambitious art exhibition entitled Lighten Up! On Biology and Time - and encourage them to come visit it before its closing on July 30, 2023. She co-curated this exhibition together with Prof. em. Anna Wirz-Justice, Prof. Sarah Kenderdine and Dr. Giulia Bini, which opened on March 23, 2023. This exhibition contains 19 artworks, including one entitled Circa Diem that Marilyne herself developed with her colleague Mark Pauly and Florin Isvoranu at EPFL and Javier Fernández Contreras at HEAD-Genève, with also the support of a large interdisciplinary team including the SKIL and PL-MTI platforms.
