On November 9, the School of Computer and Communication Sciences (IC) welcomed former students for a chance to reconnect on the occasion of EPFL's 50th anniversary.

The event, held in the BC building, was also attended by current students and professors, including EPFL president Martin Vetterli.

IC’s associate dean for teaching, Rüdiger Urbanke, opened the day’s activities with a welcome address. Keynote talks were given by alumni Pina Marziliano, executive director of the Center of Biomedical Imaging (CIBM); Marc P. Stoecklin, head of security at IBM Research in Zurich; and Jean-Nathanaël Karakash, chief of economy and social actions in the Neuchatel State Council.

EPFL Vice President for Information Systems Edouard Bugnion also gave a presentation on “Changes in computing: impacts on our society”.

The talks were followed by a networking lunch, where all attendees had the chance to meet new acquaintances and renew old ones.
