At its meeting of 11/12 December 2019, the Board of the Swiss Federal Institutes of Technology (ETH Board) appointed a total of 26 professors to EPFL and ETH Zurich. One of these was Tanja Käser, who has been named a tenure-track assistant professor in the EPFL School of Computer and Communication Sciences (IC).

Tanja Käser is currently Senior Data Scientist at the Swiss Data Science Center of ETH Zurich, and has now been appointed as a tenure-track assistant professor of computer science and communication systems in IC.

A brilliant international scientist, Tanja Käser’s interdisciplinary research combines computer and education science. She uses artificial intelligence, machine learning, new algorithms, and data mining to model and predict human learning behavior. This facilitates, for example, the customization of learning tools.

The creation of Käser’s laboratory within IC will create synergies with existing units to produce a strong pole of educational science at EPFL, and feed a growing field of research in which the school is becoming the key scientific player.
