IBOIS Lab Internship (extendable in PhD) - call for applications
IBOIS is a laboratory focused on timber construction and digital fabrication tools. Given the interdisciplinary nature of the lab, our team members come from very different domains and backgrounds. The internship can start between January and March 2022 and will last for a minimum of 6 months.

From left to right some of the IBOIS topics of research: augmented fabrication with manual tools, point cloud and computer vision tool development for timber construction, robotic fabrication with irregular timber elements.
The laboratory for timber constructions, IBOIS, is conducting research on the influence of digital fabrication techniques for digital design of timber structures and processes.
Description:
IBOIS is a laboratory focused on timber construction and digital fabrication tools. Given the interdisciplinary nature of the lab, our team members come from very different domains and backgrounds. Architectural design, civil engineering, robotics, computer science and construction are all integrated into one dynamic work environment. We are always offering a wide variety of research subjects to work on for our students and interns. Digital tools occupy an important place with timber construction, and new applicants will gain strong experience from developing applications in digital processes for timber construction. Recently, besides robotic application, we have been interested in augmented manufacturing through computer vision (CV), machine learning (ML) and extended technologies (XR). We are looking for strong motivated applicants willing to learn new computational tools and to step out of their comfort zone to contribute to the on-going research projects at IBOIS.
Skills and profile:
-Basic knowledge of Rhino, Grasshopper (and/or Unity is a plus)
-Programming knowledge in Python (C# and C++ is a plus)
-Basic knowledge of image analysis is appreciated
-Creative mindset, autonomy and problem-solving skills
-Last year's master students in engineering or architecture (with strong emphasis on digital tools)
