IBM PhD Fellowship Awards: two IC PhD students honored
Two IC PhD students, Manos Athanassoulis (advisor: IC Professor Anastasia Ailamaki), and Radu Banabic (advisors: IC Professors George Candea and Rachid Guerraoui), have been awarded the IBM PhD fellowships for the academic year 2011-2012.
The IBM Ph.D. Fellowship Awards Program is an intensely competitive worldwide program, which honors exceptional PhD students who have an interest in solving problems that are important to IBM and fundamental to innovation in many academic disciplines and areas of study. Furthermore, Award Recipients are, still according to IBM, "selected based on their overall potential for research excellence".
Our two new IBM PhD Fellowship Award recipients, both enrolled full-time in the IC doctoral program (EDIC), will receive a stipend for one academic year as an award from the prestigious multinational.
