Honorable mention in dissertation competition

Ilaria Vacca defended her PhD thesis last February. She performed her research under the supervision of Prof. Michel Bierlaire and Dr. Matteo Salani, within the Transport and Mobility Laboratory. Her dissertation entitled "Container Terminal Management: Integrated Models and Large-Scale Optimization Algorithms" has been selected to receive an honorable mention for the 2011 INFORMS Transportation Science and Logistics Society Dissertation Prize. This is the oldest and most prestigious honor for doctoral dissertations in the transportation science and logistics area.
