Historic Preservation & Conservation Summer School in Italy

Join us in Italy for hands-on experience in the preservation and conservation of historic monuments. Discover our 2025 courses on sketching, surveying and analysing historic buildings, painted architectural surfaces and stone conservation.
Amelia International Conservation Studies offers hands-on courses in architecture, historic preservation, and art history, led by professors from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Notre Dame University, and the Institute of Restoration in Rome. Courses are in English and include "Stone Conservation: Science and Ethics in Historic Preservation" and "Sketching, Surveying, and Analyzing Historical Buildings" (June 9–July 4, 2025), and "Architectural Painted Surfaces: Conservation & Restoration of Fresco and Secco Wall Paintings" (July 14–Aug 8, 2025). Participants will gain practical experience in traditional and modern restoration techniques like laser cleaning, 3D scanning, and drone surveying.
