GREEN DENSITY is among the books selected as finalists in the “Higher education” category of the 2014 Roberval Award. Edited by the Presses polytechniques et universitaires romandes (PPUR), this publication presents six original visions developed for the Waldstadt sector (Bern) within Laboratory of Architecture and Sustainable Technologies (LAST). Pursuing an interdisciplinary approach at various intervention scales - from urban design to constructive detail - they aim at experimenting, assessing and comparing various urban shapes in a perspective of urban sustainability.

The Roberval Award is an international francophone competition, which recognizes literary, audiovisual and multimedia works dedicated to explaining science and technology. These works can be intended both for the general public and for higher education. This award is organized with the support of the Technology University of Compiègne, the General Delegation for the French language and the languages of France, the General Council of the Oise department, and the sponsorship of the Academy of Science, the Academy of Technologies, the Pierre and Marie Curie University, the University of Liège, the Francophonie University Agency, the General Delegation of Quebec in Paris and Universcience.

GREEN DENSITY was singled out among the 150 applications received for the 27th edition. The book was among the four finalists chosen for the “Higher education” category. Pursuing an original approach and reacting to the strong questioning of urban sprawl, it highlights the multiple issues related to the creation of new sustainable urban neighborhoods.
