A global view of livestock biodiversity: experiences and lessons from wildlife biodiversity management

GLOBALDIV (A global view of livestock biodiversity and conservation) is a three year project funded by the European Commission in the framework of the AGRI GEN RES initiative. Its final international workshop - sponsored by the Swiss Federal Office for Agriculture (FOAG) - will take place at EPFL (Auditorium CO2), on February 8 and 9, 2011 (at 8h30). The theme of the workshop will be "A global view of livestock biodiversity: experiences and lessons from wildlife biodiversity management". The workshop is organized together with the ESF GENOMIC-RESOURCES Research Networking Programme, the latter being the follow-up of the GLOBALDIV action.
This 2-days joint workshop is intended for policy makers, scientists (animal genetics, livestock and wildlife conservation), NGO's and representatives of industry. The first day will be dedicated to the desirable rapprochement between wildlife and livestock conservation scientific communities, and the second day, outcomes and recommendations from the GLOBALDIV action will be presented. Lecture topics will span from genomics to socio-economic issues in biodiversity conservation.
