Funding Open Access Publications

Funding Open Access Publications: which role should the institutions play? Summary of the lecture given by Mr. Fabian Jeker from the Swiss National Science Foundation (FNS) on Thursday 26 May 2011 at EPFL.

Authors often face high costs of publishing in the open access journals. This is a major drawback preventing researchers from broadly accepting this model. Institutional contributions coming from a global fund for articles might be an appropriate solution to encourage open access within the scientific community.
