Franco-Swiss discussions on the problem of plastic pollution
Microplastic pollution in the Alpine arc: a cross-border challenge
At the invitation of the French Embassy in Switzerland and Liechtenstein, the Central Environmental Laboratory of EPFL co-organised two round tables on 8 June on microplastic pollution in the Alpine arc, in collaboration with the Ecotox Centre and the Embassy team. One of the aims of the event was to promote cooperation between Switzerland and France in the field of research into plastic pollution and to explore possible courses of action. At the round tables, scientists, NGOs and representatives of companies and public authorities from both countries presented the current state of knowledge and the consequences for the environment and human health. Discussions then focused on potential solutions to combat plastic pollution. Around fifty guests from government, politics, NGOs and academia took part in the discussions.
