The Basel-based Fondation Botnar has launched a new call to support research projects aimed at better understanding the determinants, mechanisms and status of the health and wellbeing of adolescents in rapidly growing secondary cities in low- and middle-income countries.

The Research Call on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing allocates a total of CHF 9 million (min. CHF 100’000 per project) to research that innovates and/or validates new solutions and services addressing unmet adolescent health or wellbeing needs or challenges at the individual, community or city system level.

The solutions and services presented by the applicants must be affordable, accessible and equitable for the target populations in need. They should leverage digital technologies and exploit AI if appropriate in the context.

Researchers and organisations anywhere in the world are invited to apply.

Applications will be reviewed by the foundation’s management team and Expert Commission and the selection will be made by the foundation’s Board.

The call for short proposals closes on Thursday, 28 February 2019, 24:00 CET.
