U.S. Ambassador to Switzerland Suzi LeVine welcomed the three Swiss FIRST LEGO League teams to her residence in Bern on May 11th . The teams had qualified during the Swiss finals of the competition, held at EPFL in February 2016 and then participated in the Central Europe competition in Hungary. One of the teams then moved on and competed in the international competition in St. Louis in the United States in April 2016.
During the visit to the Residence, Ambassador LeVine congratulated and encouraged these young people. They showed Ambassador LeVine and her husband, Mr. Eric LeVine, their research projects and robots in action. The Ambassador said she hoped to see more young people participating and dedicating themselves in the areas of technology, research and robotics. She stressed the importance of encouraging young people to choose science and technology during a discussion with Mrs. Farnaz Moser, the Director of the science outreach department of EPFL, who accompanied the teams.
The young people had great exchange with Ambassador LeVine and Mr. LeVine. They were very touched by the very warm welcome and they are sure to have excellent memories of this meeting, which we hope will strengthen their desire to go further in scientific and technological fields.
We address our most sincere thanks to Ambassador Suzi LeVine and Eric LeVine for this invitation, their warm welcome, and their encouragement to the participants.
