Evangelos BELIAS joined HOBEL in November 2019 as Doctoral Assistant after 2 years of field experience after acquiring "Diploma" degree (Equivalent of BSc & MSc) in Civil Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (2017).

Evangelos BELIAS joined HOBEL as a doctoral assistant on November 1st of 2019. He holds a "Diploma" degree (Equivalent of BSc & MSc) in Civil Engineering from the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and has also studied in Paris as an Erasmus student at ESTP (Ecole Spéciale de Travaux Publics). During his studies, he focused on the energy performance of buildings with a special interest in Phase Change Materials and the improvement of the thermal comfort in buildings.

After his graduation, he worked for two years as a Civil Engineer in the industry. Firstly, he served as Civil-Military Engineer at Greek Army during his military service where he produced many technical-economic studies and supervised various construction projects. After he moved to Paris, he worked on SNCF at HS2 project and on EDVANCE at EPR2 construction project.

His passion for academic research and new challenges made him to submit a proposal with the Professor Dusan Licina for the EPFLinnovators program, funded by European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement. As soon as he was selected as one of the final fellows on 3rd call (2019) of the program, he joined HOBEL to start his PhD studies.

In HOBEL his main focus is the natural ventilation of buildings and the integration of IoT technologies in the HVAC control systems in order to improve the IEQ (Indoor Environmental Quality) with an energy efficient way.
