ERA-NET Active and Assisted Living (AAL) Programme Call 2019

The Active and Assisted Living (AAL) Programme is an ERA-NET initiative aimed to create better quality of life for older people and to strengthen industrial opportunities in the field of healthy ageing technology and innovation. AAL is co-financed until 2020 by the European Commission (through Horizon 2020) and 17 countries, including Switzerland (via Innosuisse). It supports innovative, transnational and multi-disciplinary collaborative projects via annual calls.

The 2019 call focuses on “Sustainable Smart Solutions for Ageing well”.

• It is open to developing ICT-based solutions for active leaving targeting any application area(s) within the AAL domains, for instance: work & training, vitality & abilities, leisure & culture, information & communication, health & care, living & building, mobility & transport, safety & security.
• Proposals must demonstrate a clear route to market: 2-3 years after the project ends, a finished product or service should already be available.
• Solutions need to be embedded in the strategies of the participating end-user organisations, service providers and business partners.

Swiss-based applicants

• can only participate in the funding instrument regular collaborative projects, which is endowed with a total budget of EUR 5 million (max. EUR 2.5 million per project for 18-36 months). The consortium must include at least 3 eligible organisation from 3 different eligible countries (please check the National Eligibility Criteria).
• Eligible Swiss-based applicants: Swiss-based companies; End-user organisations; Universities and Universities of applied sciences. Please note that publicly funded research bodies are only eligible for funding if the consortium includes at least one eligible Swiss business or Swiss end-user organisation. No reconfiguration is possible if this requirement is not met. Each organization may participate in up to 6 project proposals per call.
• Maximum funding for Swiss-based applicants: CHF 800’000 per project; CHF 300’000 per organisation.
• Funding rates for Swiss-based applicants: 50% for SMEs, end-user organisations, universities, universities of applied sciences; 25% for large enterprises.
• Eligible costs for Swiss-based applicants: salaries, travel costs for project meetings, consumables, depreciation of equipment.

Submit your proposal by 24 May 2019 at 17h00 CET.

Proposals will be evaluated by a panel of independent experts (from business, end-users, ICT organisations) to establish a ranking list. Decision will be communicated in September-October 2019.
