The EPFL Doctoral School and the Research Office will launch a third call for applications for the EPFLglobaLeaders programme on 1 March 2022. EPFLglobaLeaders is a doctoral fellowship programme funding early stage researchers to become leaders in the transition towards sustainable societies. In total, forty-eight doctoral fellows will benefit from a multifaceted training programme, including a secondment in the non-academic sector.

EPFLglobaLeaders is designed to attract to EPFL outstanding doctoral candidates from all over the world seeking to - and with the potential to - become leaders in the transition towards sustainable societies. The programme is designed to:

  • increase their knowledge and awareness of pressing societal questions from the very beginning of their doctoral studies;
  • increase their capacity to come up with innovative answers to global challenges;
  • prepare them to take leadership roles in private companies, academic research institutions, and non-profit organisations committed to creating a sustainable society.

To this end, the EPFLglobaLeadersprogramme will provide the grantees with the appropriate training, experience, and guidance to become part of the next generation of responsible engineers and science leaders.

The programme is open to applicants to any of the 22 doctoral programmes available at EPFL. Selected applicants will carry out their doctoral research at one of the five EPFL campuses and will attend a specific EPFLglobaLeaders Leadership training programme while also completing a secondment in the non-academic sector.

Funding is available for four-year fellowships, and eighteen grantees will be recruited through the third call for applications.

Funding

EPFLglobaLeaders has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant agreement No 945363.
