MIROS Technology has announced the first commercial implementation of their transformable workspace: a smart system developed using technology patented in the Reconfigurable Robotics lab led by Jamie Paik in EPFL’s School of Engineering.

MIROS Technology’s smart space technology offers an innovative solution for optimizing living and working spaces in dense urban environments. The company announced on Wednesday that it has delivered two transformable rooms to its first client, Helvetic Circle, for coworking spaces in Zug, Switzerland.

One room is a transformable coworking space that can become a meeting room, individual co-working spaces, or an event space. The second room also features a meeting table that can descend from the ceiling, making it transformable into a conference room as well.

“Thanks to transformable and adaptive furniture and space management software, MIROS Technology makes it possible to instantly reconfigure a room with a simple click on a personalized application. This innovation enhances the flexibility of tomorrow's buildings, responding to the need for adaptability while maximizing the use of built spaces, whether existing or new,” says MIROS Technology CEO Fabio Zuliani, who completed his PhD in the Reconfigurable Robotics Lab.

“This is a fundamental milestone in the life of a young startup coming out of an EPFL lab with the ambition of revolutionizing workspaces, and optimizing the use of built environments via the dynamic transformation of space.”
