EPFL was in an audience with the President of the Republic of Benin, His Excellency Patrice Talon, to discuss the use of digital technology in African cities and the role of scientific research in the development of these cities.

From June 27 to 28, 2021, EPFL was in Cotonou, Benin, to meet with the country's highest authority. Indeed, the President of the Republic of Benin, His Excellency Patrice Talon, received in an audience a delegation of EPFL including Dr. Jérôme Chenal, first Head of CEAT (Urban and regional planning community) and EXAF (Excellence in Africa) at EPFL.

The aim of this meeting was to discuss the use of digital technology in African cities and to evaluate the role of scientific research in the development of these cities. Indeed, the question of the role of Information and Communication Technologies in the development of "cities of the South" is no longer to be demonstrated, and this, thanks to the phenomenon of globalization. EPFL, an internationally renowned scientific research institution, has been working for several years on these various plans and particularly in Africa, through CEAT and now also EXAF, thus pursuing its contribution to a more resilient and sustainable world.
